Itinerary:

Day 1: Marrakech To dades Valley

The private 4 day tour Marrakech to Merzouga desert begins with your driver picking you up from your hotel. We highly recommend starting the tour at 8 a.m. to allow enough time for the stops.

You’ll drive across the high Atlas Mountains, past hundreds of Berber villages. We will ensure that to stop and provide you with enough time to enjoy the scenery and snap photos. After a few hours’ drive from Marrakech, we will stop at the top of the Tizi N’Tichka. Tizi N’Tichka is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 2.212m (7257ft) above sea level that offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.

Then there’s the incredible Ait Ben-haddou! One of Morocco’s most spectacular kasbahs. After lunch, you will stroll through the Kasr of Ait ben Haddou towards Ait ben Haddou. The ksar is a fortified settlement of Berber origin, with many kasbahs inside. The secret to Ait Ben Haddou’s significance is that it was a vital stop on the path of traders passing between Marrakech and the Desert. Caravans delivered gold, silver, and spices over the trans-Saharan trade routes that connected what is now Morocco, Mali, Ghana, Niger, and Sudan for a thousand years.

Another point to be mentioned is that the Kasr has served as the backdrop for many Hollywood films. Ait Ben Haddou Ksar is now a part of cinema history, serving as both a background and a character in several popular Hollywood films. While strolling through the alleys of At Benhaddou, you’ll be amazed not only by the distinctive architecture that surrounds you but also by the fact that you’re walking in the footsteps of some of Hollywood’s famous actors!

Day 2: Dades Valley to Merzouga desert

After breakfast, we would drive deep into the Dades Valley. Before reaching the mountainous Atlas foothills, you will be able to appreciate the gorgeous scenes of orchards along the Valley. Stop in Tamlalt to see the unique rocky outcrops known as monkey fingers.

After one hour drive, you will reach the Todgha Gorgoues. The Todgha Gorgoues are a series of deep-sided canyons cut out by fast-flowing rivers on their way down to the coastal plains on the eastern side of this range. The Gorges provide some incredible hiking and photographic opportunities.

Meet the camel’s guide and get ready for a fabulous adventure. You will ride the camels for roughly an hour across the magnificent Erg Chebbi. Erg Chebbi, often known as the “Sea of Dunes,” is a portion of the Sahara Desert in Morocco’s southeast. Erg Chebbi is the best site in the country due to its enormous dunes that can reach a height of 150 meters. A trip to Morocco without visiting the Merzouga Desert can never get completed. Your guide will stop before you reach the campsite to watch the sunset. Spend the night in a lovely camp on the edge of the Sahara Desert, complete with a Nomad atmosphere.

Day 3: Explore Merzouga desert

Early wake up to see the sun rising over the dunes with nothing in its way. It is magic. Do not worry; today, we are not going anywhere else. You will have a full day to Explore the Sahara Desert.

Your driver will take you to enjoy the Gnawa music and learn about their history. For decades, black Africans of the Gnawa tribe from Sub-Saharan countries such as Sudan, Mali, and Niger were forcibly relocated from their homelands across the Sahara to Morocco as part of the global slave trade. As they walked the Desert shackled in chains, they sang to soothe and found awareness in the rhythmic chanting and clanking of the shackles. You will also visit the local Nomad families to learn about their way of life. The Nomad families will be more than happy to host you with a cup of tea.

The highlight of the day will be driving off-road through the sand dunes. The sensation of driving 4WD in the Desert is an opportunity not to be missed. By the late afternoon, you will ride back to your hotel. Enjoy the swimming pool, climb the dunes nearby your hotel, or rent a Quad bike. Overnight stay in Merzouga.

Day 4: Merzouga desert to Marrakech

After breakfast in the morning, you will jump back into the car to start your journey back to Marrakech. We’ll take an alternative route through Rissani, Nkob, Agdz, and the Daraa Valley. You will stop for lunch in Ouarzazate before continuing to Marrakech through the high Atlas Mountains.
